Kids in Science

Objectives

  • To expose students to various careers in the geological sciences so that students will be informed regarding possible career options
  • To interest students in pursuing high school and post-secondary studies in the earth sciences and related areas of study
  • To re-introduce Earth Sciences into the science curricula for junior high school students and teachers in Alberta

Why?

To expose students to various careers in the geological sciences so that students will be informed regarding possible career options and appropriate levels/types of education that is required.

To create an interest in junior high school students to pursue post-secondary studies in the earth sciences.

The students of today are the managers, CEO's, teachers, professors and community leaders of tomorrow who will be faced with dealing with adequate sources of water, adequate landfill sites, clean air for future generations.

In the near future there will be a shortage of qualified geoscientists to fill the void of retiring boomers. The time is now to encourage students to pursue studies in the geosciences. Your support to participate in the KISP is greatly appreciated.

How to get involved!
