What is the Challenge Bowl?
The Challenge Bowl is an international competition testing student's breadth and depth of knowledge about the field of geosciences. Geophysics and geoscience students have the chance at all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas in September for the 3rd Annual SEG Challenge Bowl.
The quiz show format features eight teams of two students (graduate or undergraduate) in three rounds of intense competition as the contestants attempt to buzz in first with the answers to challenging geoscience questions. Teams will compete against pairs of students from other universities or colleges. The format will consist of single and multiple choice questions from a range of geophysical (and geological) topics.
Winners of regional competitions will attend the global playoffs at the SEG Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, where they will compete in the 3rd Annual SEG Challenge Bowl and have the chance to win valuable cash prizes. All geoscience students are encouraged to participate in this unique event which combines knowledge, competition, and fun.
